UV Adhesives

UV adhesives – UV curing single-component adhesives

UV adhesives are single-component industrial adhesives that remain liquid until exposed to ultraviolet light of a specific wavelength. This allows precise positioning of parts, as curing begins only when UV light is applied.

These adhesives are widely used where fast curing, high aesthetics and precision bonding are required, especially in glass, plastics, electronics, medical and optical industries.

Applications

• Glass furniture and display bonding
• Electronics repair and assembly
• Medical device manufacturing
• Optical components bonding
• Transparent material bonding

Key advantages

• Instant curing under UV light
• Optical clarity and invisible bond line
• Controlled curing process
• Resistance to temperature, moisture and vibration
• Solvent-free composition

Working principle and conditions

UV adhesives contain photoinitiators that trigger polymerization when exposed to UV light.

For proper curing:

• At least one material must be UV transparent
• UV light must reach the entire adhesive layer
• Proper UV light source is required

Usage

Surfaces must be clean, dry and degreased. Apply adhesive to one surface and assemble parts.

Adjust positioning before curing. Then expose to UV light.

Curing typically takes 10–60 seconds depending on layer thickness and light intensity.

Safety

UV radiation can damage eyes and skin. Protective equipment must be used.

Liquid adhesive may cause irritation or allergic reactions. Use protective gloves.

Work in a well-ventilated area.

Recommended protection

• Nitrile gloves
• UV protective glasses
• Protective clothing

Storage

Store in original light-proof packaging.

Protect from sunlight and heat.
